Why you have to stop "TALENT SHOWS" and competitions:

Here is a short comment I had with Bobby Dickson on Linkedin about this subject. (Bobby Dickson was a Olympic gymnast, and for more than thirty years he performed a comedy acrobatic act, which he learned from the great Larry Griswold. He finally retired as a professional acrobat in 2005. Now he performs several visual comedy acts with his wife Anoushka)

Bobby Dickson: Absolutely!!! When you perform under the price, you have set your fee for yourself!!! Raising that fee will now be very, very difficult!!!

Tom Shanon: "Talent Shows" could be risky. Don't take this risk, unless you have really nothing to lose. But the most important to understand is: an artist who does competitions = an artist unemployed. THIS IS A BAD SIGNAL for agents, producers, etc. So don't lose your time with compétitions. Today with Internet and social media, it's more easy to be seen by most of people from this market. if you try to make a living from your talent you have to apply the “BAM!” method. “BAM!” is the 3 basic elements of the daily for an artist: BUSINESS–ART–METHOD. Of course that takes time, but if you don’t have the soul of an “artist-warrior”, forget it!
